Kettlebell Training
If you have never trained with kettlebells, get ready for the workout of your life. A workout that will truly humble anyone. It is, in my opinion, one of the best and most productive forms of training you will ever experience. Every movement with kettlebells involves the total body, from the simple “Swing,” to the “Turkish Get-Up.” There is no doubt this is why it is called “The Gym With A Handle.” The beauty of the kettlebell is its off-center of gravity— this has to be compensated for by the user’s body forcing you to use a large number of other muscles of your body to work yourself into proper alignment. Anyone can master the movements in no time, with proper training and instruction. At first glance some find the appearance of the kettlebell frightening. This quickly fades after handling one. I also feel it’s a very safe way of training. So what are you waiting for? Give it a try…you'll be hooked after the first time.
About Kettlebells
The kettlebell is a traditional Russian cast-iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle. Russian people have always valued physical strength. Historically in Russia, it was an honor to be known as the Strongest Man. Russian men would display their strength, endurance and coordination during kettlebell contests. These contests were not considered sports; they were more entertainment. After World War II, weightlifting became more popular in Russia and other countries. Unofficial kettlebell contests continued through the 1960s. In 1985, the USSR's first national kettlebell championship was held in Lipetsk, Russia. Kettlebells were introduced to America in 2000. In 2002, Rolling Stone magazine called kettlebells the “Hot Weight of the Year.”
Kettlebell workouts increase strength, endurance, agility and balance. Because kettlebell workouts involve dynamic, whole-body movements, kettlebells work both the muscular and cardiovascular systems.
